An Environmental Policy shows a company's intentions and direction to their environmental performance. It should include the implementation of time-related targets and a measurable management programme. An Environmental Policy provides an overall framework of action by setting environmental objectives to reduce a company's environmental impact. It may be a policy document from the parent company or headquarters rather than the individual location.
An effective Environmental Policy allows a company's senior team to communicate their aims and objectives to employees, shareholders, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. All goals should be measurable, realistic and have accountable actions with deadlines. An Environmental Policy may also be found within CSR policies and statements and/or a Code of Conduct if it covers relevant issues.
